Warning: Excessive tennis may cause happiness. MORGAN HILL TENNIS CLUB [May/June | 2026] ━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━ Hello Summer! May flew by faster than a down‑the‑line winner, and suddenly we’ve landed in mid‑June. The temps are rising, the courts are buzzing, and hydration is officially your new doubles partner. Drink up out there! Hot off the press: Huge shoutout to Julie Watanabe’s 55+ 8.0 team — they’re headed to Sectionals! We know you’ll bring the heat and represent MHTC with pride. Tom Nguyen’s 55+ 7.0 team is charging into Round 2 of playoffs against Bay Club Courtside. Go get ’em, team — we’re cheering loud! These teams are off to their first rounds of playoffs: Congrats to all of our teams on completing another fantastic season — and best of luck to all who are moving on. We’ll be rooting for you every step (and swing) of the way. Happy hitting ~ The MHTC Board ━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━ Club Announcements & Highlights ━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━ LiveBall: We officially kicked off LiveBall, and wow — what a turnout! More than 25 players showed up ready to learn, rally, sweat, and laugh their way through this fast‑paced twist on traditional tennis. Trying something new isn’t always easy, but you all jumped in with awesome energy and open minds. We hope you had an absolute blast and that we’ll see you back on court for the next round. Go ahead and pencil in August for our next LiveBall play‑date — more details coming soon. Please be sure to remove your garbage. The Club is responsible for garbage removal from the court. If other “garbage” is on the courts and needs professional removal, immediately report it to the City here: SeeClickFix: https://qrco.de/MaintenanceRequest A huge shout‑out to Rob for rolling up his sleeves and emptying our court trash bin. We love seeing members show our facilities a little extra TLC — it keeps our club shining and our courts feeling like home. Want to see this heroic moment in action? Once you register, head over to MHTennis.com to pay your court fees. The league registration schedule can be found here: 2026 USTA NorCal Leagues At-A-Glance.pdf Leagues on deck: Well, Happy Holidays, I guess? The above leagues will round out 2026. We’ll update league registration notices later this year… for 2027. EEK! Court conditions: ALERT! THINGS ARE HAPPENING! We are actively partnering with the City to install weather cameras on the courts! Added bonus - we will be hanging signs noting the ongoing surveillance in an effort to deter vandals. Once everything is up and running, we’ll let you know so you can start checking conditions with a quick tap instead of a drive‑by. ━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━ ━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━ Captains! Thanks for captaining — we literally couldn’t do this without you! Please know that your club is here to support you. If you have any questions, comments, or need help, reach out! We’ll see what we can do. The shed code was updated approximately 6 weeks ago, so you should have this code already. If you are a captain and need the code, contact a Board member. ━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━ ━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━ Half way through the year- wild, right? Our finances are looking healthy thanks to membership renewals, two knockout events, and some generous donated funds. And good thing, too, because with all the talent in this club and all these teams blasting their way to Sectionals, the Club is happily picking up those entry fees. We love supporting our players… and we’re glad the books can keep up. SWAG ~ If you’re looking to snag some club‑logo’d swag for yourself or your team, reach out to Lisa Cabassa at secretary@mhtennis.com. We’re partnering with a local vendor who offers great pricing, and since the Club has already covered the digital rendering, you’ll save a little extra when you order. This is also a small but meaningful fundraising opportunity for the Club — so we’d love for you to place your swag orders through us. We don’t expect to make a fortune, but every bit helps and is genuinely appreciated. Sponsorships: Help your club, here! New Scorecards Our current scorecards have seen better days. We’d love to replace them with new scorecards. We are exploring different vendors, but one thing is for sure: they are not cheap! We are working on logistics - the cards we wanted don’t fit the current post fittings, so it’s back to the drawing board. We have received some very generous donations so far - SHOUT OUT to Kotim Pak, Marjorie Moniz, and Michele Rumfola! We are making progress and will be placing our order soon! If you’d like to sponsor a scorecard or contribute towards general club maintenance, please reach out to Lisa Cabassa or email secretary@mhtennis.com. Big Ideas, Modest Budget As a reminder, we love the big ideas and creative suggestions floating around the club! Just a friendly reminder that we’re working with a $60/$25-per-year membership budget, not quite Bay Club money. That said, if you’re excited about a specific improvement and want to help make it happen—through a donation or fundraising—we’re all ears. Send the Board a quick email with your idea and how you’d like to support it, and we’ll take a look to see if it’s something the club can move forward with (possibly even matching the contribution… no promises!). Thanks for helping keep our club fun, functional, and just a little bit fancy. Thank you for supporting the club — your contributions keep our program thriving.
