Warning: Excessive tennis may cause happiness. MORGAN HILL TENNIS CLUB [February | 2026] ━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━ As we move through February and settle into the rhythm of the new year on the courts, it’s been great to see the momentum building across our tennis community. Mixed and 40+ matches have been competitive, spirited, and a strong reflection of how well our members represent the club. With playoffs approaching, the next few weeks are all about tightening up skills and putting in the focused practice that can make a real difference in team standings. Every match counts, so we encourage everyone to get out there, stay engaged, and play your best. And while you’re pushing hard, don’t forget the basics—good rest, hydration, stretching, and overall wellness all support better tennis and fewer aches later. We’re looking forward to seeing how the season finishes out and cheering you on through the final stretch Happy hitting ~ The MHTC Board ━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━ ━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━ Update!! 🥒Pickleball, anyone? The Pickleball Tournament will be held on Saturday, April 4th at PJ’s house (Cochrane location). Registration will open early March. An email with all the information you will need to know will be out shortly. Previous announcements: 🎾Club tournament! Our first tournament of 2026 is tentatively scheduled for April 19th. It will be in a Mixed format. Mark it on your calendars. We’ll let you know when it’s time to register. 🔊LiveBall - coming soon to a court near you! LiveBall is an interactive, social game with loopy tennis rules and some extra cardio. We’ll be hosting an event soon. This one is on us. We hope that you have so much fun that you’ll join us for upcoming “First Friday” social club events. More to come on this soon… 🚩Volunteer opportunities - This spring, we’ll have our regular court cleaning party. Volunteers may get cold beers 🤷. Stay tuned for firm dates. 🤞Reminder! Please be sure to remove your garbage. The Club is responsible for garbage removal from the court. If other “garbage” is on the courts and needs professional removal, immediately report it to the City here: SeeClickFix: https://qrco.de/MaintenanceRequest ━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━ ━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━ 🗓️Captains and future captains: Thank you for registering your teams for Adult 18+, and 18+ daytime, and 55 & Over. If you haven’t paid your team fees, head over to MHTennis.com to pay. League registration schedule can be found here: 2026 USTA NorCal Leagues At-A-Glance.pdf Leagues on deck: Mixed 40+ registration opens April 20th and closes May 18th. 🌦️Court conditions: No news from the city yet on potential monitoring options. When we learn more, we’ll let you know! ━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━ ━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━ 🎉Captains! Thanks for keeping the shed looking so tidy — we really do appreciate it. A quick heads‑up: we’ll be updating the shed code soon. When the change happens, you’ll get an email directly with the new code. We’d love to keep this code just between captains and anyone officially stepping in to captain a match. When the code gets shared too widely, shed gear has a funny way of wandering onto courts and not always finding its way home again. Keeping the code limited helps us make sure everything stays where it belongs and is ready for the next team. ━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━ ━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━ The Board has been busy crunching numbers and sketching out financial goals for the rest of 2026—and peeking ahead into next year. We’re also deep in conversations with the City on a few court‑related projects, crossing our fingers that they can help fund or support some much‑needed improvements. As you might imagine, these things move at the speed of… well, municipal processes. So while we wait, we’re rolling up our sleeves on a few projects of our own. Power Washing the Courts We’ll be fundraising as a club to power wash the courts—an important part of keeping them looking sharp and lasting longer. The cost is about $2,000, which is no small chunk of change, but it’s essential maintenance. Club tournaments (including the pickleball tournament mentioned above!) will help support this effort. 🎁 Sponsorships: A Fun New Way to Pitch In After our last newsletter, club member Denise Ramos shared a great idea: offering “sponsorship” opportunities for specific club and court improvements. Think of it like the donor tags you’ve seen on the benches—only expanded to other items we need. Here’s how it will work: 🆕 First Sponsorship Opportunities: New Scorecards! New Court Number Placards! Our current scorecards have seen better days. We’d love to replace them with new scorecards. We are exploring different vendors, but one thing is for sure: they are not cheap! Ideally, we order 8 to 10 new cards, priced between $80 and $90 each. What court am I playing? Wait, is this court 7 or 8? New replacement placards can be a big help, visually to our facility. Court number placards are about $200 to replace all 8. If you’d like to sponsor a scorecard or placard, or contribute toward the purchase, please reach out to Lisa Cabassa or email secretary@mhtennis.com. Big Ideas, Modest Budget As a reminder, we love the big ideas and creative suggestions floating around the club! Just a friendly reminder that we’re working with a $60/$25-per-year membership budget, not quite Bay Club money 😄. That said, if you’re excited about a specific improvement and want to help make it happen—through a donation or fundraising—we’re all ears. Send the Board a quick email with your idea and how you’d like to support it, and we’ll take a look to see if it’s something the club can move forward with (possibly even matching the contribution… no promises!). Thanks for helping keep our club fun, functional, and just a little bit fancy.💅 Thank you for supporting the club — your contributions keep our program thriving. From the Editor Thanks for reading this newsletter. I look forward to keeping you updated with Club information and providing a line of communication that works two ways. Feel free to (kindly) reach out to me at lisa.fink.cabassa@gmail.com, or Secretary@mhtennis.com . Mean emails will be immediately deleted.
